Tribute to Egon Schiele
Egon Schiele is intense in the portrayal of his sexuality and concerns with similar social issues — the same issues as today. After reading his biography, I gained greater insights into the struggles that plagued his art. A great artist who died way too soon.
I painted Egon’s famous self-portrait in 2022. I repainted over four previous abstracts to achieve the work. I used acrylic and facial makeup to deliver the “spirit of his youth and struggles.” I framed the work with a black frame, somewhat symbolic of his early death.
